WIFT Sound Engineering 101 Presented by James Baldwin
James Baldwin is a full-time actor and highly experienced sound engineer who has spent years working across a wide range of film productions. Frequently serving in the dual role of actor and sound engineer, James brings a unique perspective to the filmmaking process—understanding both what happens in front of the camera and what’s required behind the scenes to capture exceptional sound.
His experience spans large-budget productions as well as independent projects, working alongside established Hollywood actors and directors. Having recorded sound in many challenging and unpredictable environments, James has developed a strong problem-solving skill set and a reputation for adaptability in pursuit of the best possible audio.
James is well-versed in the full sound capture process, from proper microphone selection and placement to the equipment and techniques required on set. As he often says, “Most people undervalue the importance and process of capturing good sound.”
Join us as we dive into the world of sound in film and learn the fundamentals of sound engineering with James Baldwin.
